Our late father Dorji Gyelthsen founded Bhutan Tours and Travels in 1988. Up until then, he had served as the director of the tourism arm of theRoyal Government of Bhutan. Tourism in Bhutan opened to private sector investment in 1991. Through all his years and expertise in steering the tourism sector till then, when the opportunity arose, he branched off into opening a private tour operation and construction company. After his untimely demise in 1998, the tour company naturally fell into dormancy.
Fast forward close to 2 decades, this evolution is now headed by Pasa Ugyel towards a direction of mindful exploration. During my final years of university, I became a tour guide and found my calling guiding for others in between my final semesters. My spirit for adventure is rooted in admiration for mother nature, its ability to infuse humility in the human. I enjoy curating and leading transformative travel expeditions that create the space to explore, not just the physical world but of the human spirit
